Oh, you don’t know the shape I’m in

Frustrating, isn’t it. As much as I try to convey my status in life to others, friends and family included, it just doesn’t connect with them on the level I need it to. They just don’t feel my pain, frustration, etc. Or worse yet, they really don’t seem all that interested. Now that stinks.

Ok, what to do? (or, one of my go-to mantras in life: what are my options?). One option: I can throw my hands up in frustration, build a wall of callousness to the world, and retreat to avoid further pain. Hmm… but that’s not really pain avoidance, it’s just the same pain internalized.

Ok, moving along, option two. Let’s get back to the issue at hand. Life sucks, nobody understands. But is that really true? If it is, then life really does suck. So focusing on nobody, I think that might be the key. Well, if you think all this is a build up to an answer, you pegged me. Yes, there is an answer to nobody understanding me, that answer being it’s a lie.

God gets me and here’s why. He created me. In Psalm 139:14 it says “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made”. And we’re not talking about a mass assembly line simply churning out people. We’re talking about God making each one of us individually unlike anyone else. In Luke 12:7 it says “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” As a kid, I always thought the fact that no two people have the same finger print was pretty cool.

Ok, so if God made me even down to a head hair count, then He probably understands all the crazy feelings and thoughts going on with me too, right? I think so. In fact, I know so – firsthand.
